From your birth you have been supporting the lymphatic system within your body in many ways, some I think you are not even aware of. Today you'll learn how you can specifically help maintain this tireless system to your health benefit.
The lymphatic system monitors and filters out foreign invaders, such as bacteria, viruses, and cancer cells. To put it mildly all of our cellular waste is cleaned in the lymph nodes then recycled back to the blood. Today you’ll learn how you can easily support this system.
Because from the moment you slide out of your mother’s womb, you are exposed to a world teeming with a variety of micro-organisms, such as bacteria and viruses, along with natural and man-made chemicals that can harm us.
Mother nature in her wisdom supplied the human body that is equipped with a tireless, intricate defense system called the immune system.
This tireless immune system attacks and eliminates most foreign micro-organisms and substances that enters the body. From the moment of your birth the immune system starts learning how to recognize your unique self and fight off what is foreign to your unique you.
But how does it know what’s you and what’s not you?
Well, every cell within your body has markers, can you imagine that every cell in your body has its own identity and so your immune system knows them well. So, when something that’s not known to your unique body’s self it rids you of this foreign matter or invaders.
What Is the name of that cleaner that expels those invaders?
Within your magnificent body, there’s a network of lymph glands (nodes) and lymphatic vessels that makes up the lymphatic system. The lymphatic system is the cleaner for the body, it works much like your circulatory system.
Infection-fighting white blood cells produced by the spleen, bone marrow, and thymus circulate through this system.
These two systems, your lymphatic system and immune system are intricately entwined and cannot function healthfully without each other.
Do you know you can feel your lymph glands in the front and back of your neck, your armpits and groin, especially if you have an infection because then the glands are swollen.
Instead of delivering blood to the body, the lymphatic system keeps things in balance for your immune system and prevents various illnesses. Because it doesn’t have a central organ to keep things flowing, there are several ways to prioritize stimulating the lymphatic system for your best health.
The human body that is created by God was well designed.
Throughout your life your immune system rids you of invaders and keeps you healthy. Yes, sometime your immune system becomes overwhelmed by the invaders, but it does fight back.
Diseases are a major factor like high blood pressure, diabetic, cancer and many other illnesses, aging, along with the medications you take and infections of the immune systems cells.
Remember 2020 when Covid hit anyone with a weaken immune system was severely affected?
These tips will help you in supporting the lymphatic system so you can reap the benefits of optimal health.
The lymphatic system requires the movement of smooth muscles to move fluids through lymph vessels. Any massage will help, especially with a professional therapist trained in decongestive lymphatic therapy.
However, there are strategies you can do yourself, like dry brushing or using a jade roller to get things moving.
Water helps flush out the lymphatic system and is an essential element that helps you clear away waste in the body. Since it’s necessary for your overall health, anyway, make sure you’re drinking it regularly.
Think of water as a shower for your organs.
Being in water – hot or cold – can also help you engage that lymphatic system. Steaming your skin with water stimulates capillaries which open up and release toxins. Head to the sauna, or simply let the steam from your shower help you out.
When you alternate between hot and cold water, it also helps this type of circulation.
The naturally acidic nature of apple cider vinegar can bind toxins that can help you get them out of the body. Apple cider vinegar also contains potassium that can clear mucus away and refresh your lymph nodes.
A great way to try it is by making your own salad dressing using apple cider vinegar as the base, then I add chopped garlic, green and red onions, some extra virgin olive oil and pimento.
You likely know that cardio is excellent for your cardiovascular health. Exercising plays a major role in maintaining normal blood pressure levels. A cardio workout brings on more sweat which can help you drain your lymphatic system.
Don’t worry if you’re not a fan of Zumba; simply jumping up and down on a rebounder provides a fun and effective cardio workout that can help your lymphatic system drain effectively.
Our stressful lives have us taking more shallow breaths than breathing deeply. Feel your breath. Start with deep breathing first to relax your mind and body. Then you can breathe at an average rate, focusing on the ins and outs of the air to calm yourself.
Center your focus so that you aim to breathe deeply for your lymphatic system.
Yoga and meditation are great ways to do this. When you meditate leave your expectations behind. You're not going to solve all the problems in your life off the bat, for now we are just supporting our lymphatic system.
Just try to go into each meditation session with the thought that you'll be getting to know yourself better.
Like any habit, meditation will be easier to establish if you keep to the same time each day. Whether it's in the morning or at night before bed, keep the time consistent for when you meditate.
Your lymphatic system will benefit even if you only stop for a few moments each day to engage in deep breathing practices.
One of the best tips to help you support the lymphatic system is to eat foods full of fiber. This will help get toxins out of your digestive system -- things like berries (especially cranberries), citrus fruits, leafy greens, and seeds are the most beneficial to include in your diet.
Try these tips in supporting the lymphatic system health and see how better you feel.
Finally, I want to introduce to you how Mindfulness practices can help us all cultivate awareness, reduce stress – a major risk factor to our immune system that can make a person more vulnerable to more serious infections, and develop a greater sense of connection to ourselves and the world around us.
By dedicating time each day to mindfulness, we can improve our mental and emotional well-being, leading to increased resilience, happiness, and overall life satisfaction.
That's where the Mindful Eating Plan comes in.
It has helped me, and my community get back on track with their eating, so they feel better, have more energy, prevent, reduce, reverse high blood pressure and blood sugar levels, while even drop a few pounds. I work mostly with high blood pressure people and especially women of color, seeking relief from their blood pressure medication side effects.
My high blood pressure community finds it truly liberating in its adaptability.
This isn't a diet confined to the four walls of your home kitchen; it's a lifestyle approach you can carry wherever you go. Whether dining out, traveling, or at a family gathering, the principles you learn will enable you to make balanced choices without feeling restricted.
It's about having the knowledge and confidence to navigate any menu or pantry and put together a meal that aligns with your health goals.
The best part of working with them is that I get to help them shift their habits, so they are able to lower their blood pressure with results that impress even their doctors, all the while still eating food that tastes good.
By joining and participating in this mindful eating online program, you are committing to setting aside time each day to practice mindfulness techniques, whether meditation, journaling, or simply being present during everyday activities. It's time to prioritize your well-being and make daily mindfulness practices a non-negotiable part of your lives.
I encourage you to take the first step and commit to Mindful Eating online program. Remember, it's not about perfection; it's about progress. Each day you engage in mindfulness practices, you build a healthier, more connected, and more grounded version of yourself.
Together, we can make daily mindfulness practices a lasting habit and create a more centered, peaceful life for ourselves and our loved ones.
