Why Should You Lower High Blood Pressure?

Again I ask why should you lower high blood pressure?  High blood pressure is a serious condition, a life threatening condition.  Your body can tolerate high blood pressure for some time, some researchers even say ten years or more, before it becomes too difficult to do so.

The higher your blood pressure rises, the more the condition is progressing. When it reaches too high of a level, you are at the highest risk of experiencing a life threatening event, such as a heart attack or stroke.

Do note: you are at risk for a stroke, heart attack, kidney disease, heart disease, diabetes and congestive heart failure at any time that you have high blood pressure.

You do not have to have exceedingly high blood pressure to develop these potentially fatal conditions.

Therefore, even if you have mild or moderate levels of high blood pressure, you should be working at lowering it.

What Is High Blood Pressure?

Blood pressure is the amount of force that in the arteries. This force pushes the body's blood throughout the cardiovascular system.

It is necessary to have blood pressure but the amount of pressure is an important factors. If there is too much pressure, complications may occur.

Education can be one of the tools you use in lowering your high blood pressure.

What Happens With High Blood Pressure?

When there is too much pressure in the arteries, the following may occur:

  • The arteries do not dilate enough, which limits the amount of blood that can flow to the organs in your body.

  • Without enough blood flowing to the organs in your body, the necessary level of nutrients and oxygen do not make it to those organs.

  • Initially, the organs can tolerate this lower level of oxygen and nutrient rich blood.

  • Over time, the organs, especially the kidneys, heart and brain, cannot continue to operate at optimal level because of the diminished supply of nutrients.

  • Ultimately, this leads to a failure of the organ. A stroke may occur. You may suffer a heart attack. You may develop diabetes, congestive heart failure or heart disease. Eventually, something gives up.

Making Decisions To Be Healthy And Lower High Blood Pressure

It can be incredibly important to lower high blood pressure.

Doctors recommend that those with high blood pressure treat their condition first through lifestyle changes, such as eating a healthy diet and getting exercise.

If your high blood pressure is significantly higher than normal, medications may be necessary as well. If you do not take proactive steps to treat this condition, it could lead to premature death.
